Plant Care Tips
Simple advice from boneanklevibrant to keep your indoor plants healthy and growing.
Light
Most indoor plants prefer bright indirect light. Avoid hot midday sun on leaves. Low-light plants can sit further from windows. Rotate pots occasionally for even growth.
Water
Check the top inch of soil before watering. If it feels dry, water until it runs from the drainage holes, then let excess drain. Reduce watering in cooler months.
Humidity
Grouping plants or placing them on a tray of pebbles and water can raise humidity. Misting helps some species but is not a substitute for proper soil moisture.
Soil and pots
Use a free-draining mix suited to indoor plants. Ensure pots have drainage holes. Repot when roots fill the pot or growth slows, usually every year or two.
Feeding
Feed during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertiliser at half strength. Reduce or stop in autumn and winter.
Common questions
Yellow leaves
Often caused by overwatering or poor drainage. Check that the pot drains and allow the soil to dry between waterings where appropriate.
Brown tips
Can indicate dry air, inconsistent watering or build-up of minerals. Use room-temperature water and avoid over-fertilising.
Dropping leaves
Some leaf drop is normal after moving a plant. Ongoing loss may mean too little light, drafts or watering issues. Adjust placement and routine.
